Introducing the proposed mixed-use, transit-oriented community of Gerrard-Carlaw North, built by Choice Properties in Toronto's Leslieville and located on the north side of Gerrard Street East, west of Marjory Avenue. The 2.27-hectare site, which is positioned on the northeast corner of Gerrard Avenue and Carlaw Avenue, is planned to be developed into a mixed-use TOC that will be anchored by the upcoming Gerrard Station on the Ontario Line. The proposal calls for about 1,080 residential units. More than 1,000 parking spots for bicycles are proposed, with some of the spaces exclusively for transit users.
The Ontario Line 3 stop at Gerrard would become the site of the Gerrard-Carlaw North transit-oriented community (TOC). The first contracts for construction and equipment for the new subway line were just just granted. It will make 13 stops between Exhibition GO station in the southwest and Science Centre station on Eglinton Line 5 in the northeast.
In the Riverdale neighborhood, the site is situated at the northeastern corner of Carlaw Avenue and Gerrard Avenue. The land is triangular in shape and is bordered to the west by Carlaw Avenue, to the east by Pape Avenue, to the north by a laneway, and to the south by the Metrolinx rail line.
The future growth potential for Gerrard-Carlaw North site is dependent on a planned transit station that will serve the surrounding neighborhood with connections to streetcar and subway service along the Ontario Line. The proposed Gerrard Station site will add more housing and retail space for businesses as well as significant parkland.
